HOW TO MAKE SIMPLE SYRUP

If you’re like me, you’re always coming across recipes that call for simple syrup – especially recipes that are within the cocktail section of your recipe book. And, if you’re like me, you never have any on hand. You can always run out to the market and purchase it or you can make it. So, we should make some, right? The recipe for simple syrup is very simple and easy to make and there are only two ingredients: water and sugar. Yeah, that’s it, I know, pretty simple. You can store it in the fridge and it will stay fresh for about 2 months.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar

Instructions

In a small saucepan over medium-high heat, gently bring the water and sugar to a simmer, stirring to completely dissolve the sugar. Be careful and don’t allow the syrup to actually boil. Remove the pan from the heat and set aside to cool to room temperature. Pour the syrup into a clean 1-pint bottle, cap it and refrigerate until ready to use.
