Alice In Wonderland

Are you looking to add some flavor or a new twist to your cocktail party? Well, we found some great ideas over at In Style Mag, some delish and very cool movie inspired cocktails. There are some great movies currently on the big screen and due to hit the theaters in 2010 that are fab enough to have inspired some pretty awesome cocktails. Alice in Wonderland which is due to release in March of 2010, which stars the very talent and handsome Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter is what inspired Bazaar a whimsical restaurant in L.A.’s SLS Hotel to concoct the  Nitro Caipirinha, this cocktail is so very cool and has a key ingredient – liquid nitrogen, which freezes the alcohol to give it a slushy consistency (just be sure to use caution when handling the chemical). For the recipe and more cocktails

Nitro Caipirinha

Ingredients

• 5 lime wedges

• 1 tbsp sugar

• 2 oz cachaça

• 2 cups ice

• 1 cup liquid nitrogen

• 3 small tarragon leaves

• 4 edible flower petals

• Lime, for zest

Preparation

Add lime wedges and sugar into a rocks glass, muddle. Add cachaça and ice, cover and shake vigorously. Strain into a mixing bowl. Pour small portions of liquid nitrogen into the bowl, stirring simultaneously with a whisk, until a smooth sorbet texture is achieved. Transfer to a small serving bowl or glass. Sprinkle tarragon and flower petals on top to garnish. Finish with grated lime zest.

Sex and The City

Carrie and the girls will arrive back on the big screen in 2010 in Sex and the City 2 with Big, more Manolo Blahniks and of course their signature cocktail the Cosmopolitan. Well Somer Perez, cocktail consultant at the Empire Hotel in NYC has an updated version of the Cosmopolitan, a Georgina Mind Eraser. This cocktail definitely has a twist on it from the original it has tequila and an Atomic Fireball piece of candy in it hmm…, great balls of fire!! Here’s the recipe:

Georgina Mind Eraser

Rim a martini glass with black sugar (using simple syrup as the “glue”). In a mixing glass, swirl Absinthe around to coat sides and pour out excess liquid. Add all other ingredients to mixing glass and shake. Strain into martini glass and drop in the Fireball.

Nine

Penelope Cruz, Nicole Kidman and Kate Hudson play memorable Italian women in the movie  Nine which tells the story of a world famous film director as he confronts an epic mid-life crisis with both creative and personal problems. He must balance the many women of his life: his wife, his mistress, his film star muse and many more women. The movie seems to be on the road to the Oscars and will hit the big screen on Christmas Day, so get in the mood for the musical by sampling a Casa Negroni, L.A.’s Cecconi restaurant’s version of the classic Italian cocktail. Here’s the recipe:

Casa Negroni

•1 oz. gin

•1 oz. Campari

•1 oz. Carpano Antica sweet vermouth

Stir ingredients together in a mixing glass. Pour over ice in a rocks glass. Garnish with a flamed orange rind.

The Twilight Saga

Are a Twilight fan and having party to show your love? Do you have a taste for the Twilight Saga but not exactly bloodthirsty? Then mix up a batch of  the Red Snapper cocktail, created at the legendary King Cole bar inside New York City’s St. Regis hotel. Here’s the recipe:
